 Dr.
Pongsak Viddayakorn, M.D., CEO of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services
Plc. (BDMS), President of Bangkok Hospital, and Honorary President
of Phuket Health and Travel Co., Ltd., was awarded The Order of
the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Ribbon decoration by the Japanese
Emperor. This honor is bestowed upon him in recognition of his contribution
to health care in Japan and further enhances Thai-Japanese relations.
The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Ribbon is the
third of eight levels of the Order of the Sacred Treasure, which
is given to those who have shown dedication to promoting the well-being
of the Japanese people. Dr. Viddayakorn is the first Thai doctor
to have received this honor.
Dr. Viddayakorn started his career as a doctor at the Ministry
of Education’s medical center, continuously developing the
center to its current stage where it has 2 doctors, 3 dentists,
10 nurses, and over 100 pharmacists and staff. Dr. Viddayakorn was
director of the center when he left the civil service and became
president of Bangkok Hospital.
Apart from being president of Bangkok Hospital, Dr. Viddayakorn
also oversees the management of a network of 14 hospitals and companies.
